A Toy Story

“Hey folks! Did you hear? Li’l prince is coming here tomorrow”, Clapping Monkey was excited to announce. 

 “How do you know for sure?”, the Electronic Boxy Girl Doll asked. 

“Well, I heard the shop owner talking to the manager, he said Li’l prince wants to buy some toys”, Monkey replied. 

“God! I'm so excited to meet Li’l prince, last time he visited, he bought so many of us and took them with him”, Baby birdie fingerling was dancing in excitement. 

 “What the hell are you excited for?”, Super villain action figurine came out of the toys, holding a gun in his hands, “Li’l Prince like Action heroes, I am sure he will buy me this time.” 

 “Okay, but you are not a hero, you are a villain”, Baby birdie cried in anger. 

 “Hey Hey Hey, calm down guys. We don’t know who Li'l prince will take with him, Li’l prince is the Li’l prince and it will be his decision only”, Clapping Monkey tried to conciliate everyone. 

 “Monkey is right, there is no point fighting”, Radio controlled fire truck interrupted, “And by the way I need to charge my batteries as I don’t want to create any nuisance in front of the prince, so I am leaving now.” 

 “So everyone, please get yourself ready for tomorrow and give your best in front of the Li’l prince. All the best.” The monkey instructed all of them. 

 Every toy of the shop was gearing up for the final performance before the Li’l prince. Monkey checked for his loosened screws and tightened all of them. The boxy girl Doll checked all the buttons of her belly and worked on making her voice tuned and pleasing. The fire truck was checking for his batteries. 

 Only the Super villain was sitting alone in the corner looking at all of them, filled with animosity. He was thinking of somehow knocking over and getting all their plans spilled. He filled his gun with dirty black water and decided to pour it on all of them as soon as the sun rose in the morning. There was a wicked smile on his face now. 

  Meanwhile, Super hero X7 was standing on the top of the shelf with his observant and keen eyes and was watchful of the Super villain and his evil plans. 

 The Shop Manager left late at night and he shut down all the lights of the shop while leaving. A few moments later, there was some noise coming from the corner in the dark, that scared every toy to the hell out of them. It seemed like there was some kind of fight going on, after some time the voices stopped and then all the toys went to sleep. 

 In the morning, the manager opened the shop and as he was doing the cleaning and the stuff, he saw that super villain figurine was lying in the corner twisted, and his gun was broken into pieces. Nearby, X7 was lying unconscious, sitting against the wall. 

He was all dirty and colored in black.

  The Theory of Nothingness ( Originally written for India Film Project IFP s-11's 7 Days Writing Challenge ) It was a cold winter evening. A woman, in her late thirties, walks down a street in New Delhi. She took a mobile device from her bag and opened an e-hailing app on it searching for a ride. After fiddling with the mobile screen for a few moments she dialed a number, the cab driver picked the call on the other end and told her that he would be reaching within 10 minutes.  After a few minutes the cab arrived. She opened the door and entered the cab.
